Use service management to create ownership and knowledge rather than measuring success by how many tickets are closed.

01

Measure outcomes, not motion

Ticket volume can increase while service quality gets worse. Track recurrence, ageing, SLA risk, customer communication, problem themes and the amount of work removed through permanent fixes.

02

Separate incident from problem

Restore service quickly during an incident, then create explicit problem work when the underlying cause needs deeper investigation. That keeps both priorities visible.

03

Create knowledge from resolution

A useful resolution should be reusable. Link known fixes, runbooks and service information to the work so each incident can improve the next response.

04

Automate predictable transitions

Routing, acknowledgement, SLA timers and standard notifications are good automation candidates. Keep human judgement where risk and context matter.
